Assassin's creed shadows will be delayed until 2025 and released on Steam on the first day.
Ubisoft announced the unexpected delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows. The game will now be released on February 14, 2025, instead of November 15, as originally planned.
Ubisoft announced that "Assassin's Creed Shadows" will now be released in 2025 on February 14. "While the game's features are complete, we learned from the Star Wars Outlaws launch that we need to give additional time to polish the title.
"This will allow the biggest entry in this franchise to fully deliver its ambition, particularly by fulfilling the promise made by our dual protagonist adventure with Naoe's and Yasuke's very different gameplay styles."
Star Wars Outlaws was released on August 30. It received a generally positive reception, but sales were not high. Ubisoft confirmed this in a statement today, stating that "initial sale proved softer than anticipated."
Ubisoft has said that Assassin's Creed Shadows would be available on Steam at launch. This could be due to Ubisoft's underperformance.
Ubisoft also announced that the traditional season pass model was out. "All players can enjoy the game simultaneously on February 14, and those who preordered the game will receive the first expansion free," Ubisoft stated. All preorders are cancelled.
Ubisoft posted a separate message on X acknowledging that the delay would be "disappointing news," but added, "we sincerely think this is in the interest of the game and your ultimate experience as a user."
The announcement was made today in a financial update. This news followed a similar surprise cancellation at the last minute of an appearance on the Tokyo Game Show.
Ubisoft Japan announced that it had decided to cancel its participation in the Tokyo Game Show 2024 online exhibit. The exhibition was scheduled to begin at 3pm on September 26th. The current giveaway campaign to celebrate the official release will continue. We apologize for the short notification. We apologize to all those who were looking forward to this release."
