Baldur's Gate 3's 28th hotfix is teased by Larian as'something small before something big'
You are all criminals. In the past year, I've been writing Baldur's Gate 3's patch notes. Faerun's humble Merchant class can't compete with a few millions dedicated players. In March, Larian had no choice but to crack down on players who were stealing money from the game's merchants by putting their items into containers. Now? The studio must stop you from using your most solemn oaths for a quick buck.
Hotfix 28 for BG3 is now available. It contains all sorts of small tweaks and adjustments following Larian's humdinger patch. The majority of the fixes are related to modding and fixing minor issues in the new mod manager. But the one that caught my attention was this: "You cannot add items to your wares if they can't become wares, such as pact weapons. By selecting pact weapons along with an item that can be turned into a ware, you will no longer be able to add them to your wares. This prevents an exploit where you can sell your wares but the bound items will not leave your inventory."
Larian, as if heaving an sigh added the note "Any more up your sleeves?" I suspect that the answer is yes. The denigration D&D's petite-bourgeoisie is going to continue for the rest of time.
There are also a lot of fixes for modding. Modders with a lot of mods can expect faster loading times. Mod dependencies that didn't load in the correct order have also been fixed. A bug that prevented PC users from opening the mod manager with gamepads has also been resolved. In other non-modding news, Wyll will no longer send you a negative greeting even if you like him. We hate a hot-and cold king.
You'll probably agree that this is all good stuff, but Larian has more plans in the works. Michael Douse, Larian's publishing director, said in a cryptic way that the studio would release "Something So Small Before Something So Big" with hotfix 28.
This is most likely a reference to plans that the devs discussed in September. Crossplay, photo mode, and other mysterious things that the studio won't discuss are on their way. So patch 7 may not be the final update as far as the studio is concerned. I guess I'll have to postpone my second playthrough, but what do you think? Fine. I'm happy for Larian's chefs to cook.
