Raphael the devil in Baldur's gate 3 thought that the RPG was musical.

Andrew Wincott's BAFTA-winning performance as Raphael was one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s many highlights. He also sang one of the most memorable musical numbers in the game when he sang the House of Hope dungeon boss theme. However, this performance gave him the wrong idea of what the game is all about.

Adam Smith, the writing director of the House of Hope film, shared anecdotes about his first meeting with Wincott. Smith showed him the YouTube video for his musical number which had already received a million views at the time. "He said, My god, are other actors' songs just as popular? He then said, "Well, wasn't it a musical?" He wasn't kidding; he thought it was a real musical. He's fantastic."

Wincott was also singing for the first time on the job. Larian's casting agency told him he could sing when he told them he couldn't. Raphael’s Final Act became a huge hit for the fans. Wincott performs the song along with Mariya Anastasova who performed several BG3 songs, including the hauntingly gorgeous Down by the River.

Both the House of Hope as well as Raphael underwent a lot of change during development. Raphael used to be known as the Monitor, and was much more active. He was constantly spying on the group. The players could also have taken control of the house, and flown it across the Nine Hells.

The studio has said goodbye to the Forgotten Realms forever. I would be very disappointed if Larian decided to adapt BG3 as a musical. It is now preparing for two new RPGs, which will probably be huge. Although they're still a while off, why not read my interview with Smith, and CEO Swen vincke about the past and future of Larian?
