Black Ops 6 players should relax because the developers have confirmed that 'the changes to the assault rifle have not made headshots any less effective'

After weeks of teasers and hints at new Zombies features and maps, we finally have the full scope of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 season 1 patch notes. There is a lot of information to unpack.

The patch notes have already covered the major additions, such as the multiplayer maps Hideout and Heirloom. However, players will also receive new multiplayer modes. Ransack is the first mode, where players "loot gold bars from crates scattered around the area of operation on 6v6 map," according to patch notes. You must then secure the loot you have collected by bringing it into your team's stash. Prop Hunt is the hide-and-seek mode players have enjoyed before in games like Black Ops Cold War or WWII.

New operators, weapons, events and a Zombies-directed mode are also included. The rest of the updates and fixes are mostly bug fixes. The bug fixes are aimed at addressing issues that cause infrequent crashes, forced restarts and a bug which prevents players from completing certain missions. Weapon updates include a change to the weapon's motion while moving, which improves aiming. Also, the depth of field settings for weapons have been improved when performing a weapon inspection. All weapons are affected by these changes, but assault weapons received a special update.

The patch notes state that "We are increasing damage values for our Assault Rifles in order to ensure they can kill with just one bullet in Hardcore mode." The headshot multiplier change has either kept the bullets that kill with headshots at the same level or even improved them for some minimum damage ranges. This change is applicable to the XM4, AMES85, GPR 91 and the Goblin Mk2.

The damage of each of these assault rifles has been increased. However, despite this explanation, some players appeared to be concerned enough about the changes in damage falloff, that Treyarch posted a second message to confirm that there was no change to the effectiveness of headshots at any range. All of these ARs have increased their base damage, which has required adjustments to headshot multipliers. The changes resulted to the following net improvements to headshots."

The AMES85, which now only requires three headshots instead of four, as well as the XM4, AMES85, and GPR 91, all with the CHF barrel, only require two headshots to achieve a faster damage range.

Another interesting note from the patch notes is a message from Team Ricochet, which explains how Treyarch has combated "disruptive behavior." This patch will include "enhanced AFK detectors to combat account boosting" as well as "Adjusting ping levels to require players to play in their region in order to reduce VPN abuse."

Players will need to win 50 matches-made multiplayer games in order to qualify for ranked. This is to ensure that "players are experienced with multiplayer mode before they enter it and gives Team Ricochet an historical match history to review before an account enters into ranked play." This is a great way to make sure that all players in ranked have a base level of experience and skills, but I feel sorry for those who will struggle to reach the 50-win threshold.
