Cult of the Lamb has released an EP in which metal legends rework the chiptunes from the game. The first track is a total slammer.

Cult of the Lamb, a roguelike cult simulator, has announced its new project: a metal EP that will be released next week under the title "Cult of the Lamb - Hymns of the unholy". Devolver Digital Massive Monster and Laced Records are collaborating to produce an EP consisting of six tracks. While She Sleeps Trivium and Malevolence will be featured along with other metal stars. Sam George, also of Pick Up Goliath, has written, arranged and produced the album.

Hymns Of The Unholy's first single, performed by Pick up Goliath, featuring Howard Jones, Scott LePage and Mike Malyan has already been released. It is worth listening to so you can get an idea of what the album will be like. The song is called "CULT", and it's a re-work of the first song on the Cult of the Lamb Soundtrack, 'Praise the Lamb.' I can't lie -- this song is a banger.

Cult of the Lamb is a bleak film, so a switch to a metal soundtrack feels like heavenly music. The song samples parts of the original soundtrack, but it all blends together so well that I'm already imagining myself playing it over and over, along with the animated music video.

In a press statement, Massive Monster cofounder Jay Armstrong said that "there's a natural connection between the game's theme and heavy metal music. And given the recent Unholy Alliance DLC release and the Goat, why didn't we get some G.O.A.T.s to transform River Boy’s iconic melodies in heavy metal slammers?"

Cult of the Lamb - Hymns of the unholy will be streamed in full on October 28. Physical editions are expected to be released in March of next year. Pre-orders are now open for two variations of Hymns Of The Unholy, including a beautiful purple and black splatter record that I will certainly add to my collection due to my unending love of lambs.
