Disney Dreamlight Valley has just announced the second DLC, featuring four new characters. A free update is coming in December.

Disney Dreamlight Valley showcased a lot of new content that will be available in the coming months. The roadmap for 2025 also hinted at some new adventures that will be released next year. The Storybook Vale is the most notable new DLC. I'm excited to dive in.

The expansion will consist of two parts. The first part will be released on November 20 and include three new biomes - The Bind, Ever After and Mythopia - and four characters. In The Bind we can adventure with Merida while in Ever After we can swashbuckle alongside the charming rogue Flynn Rider. Hades makes his debut in Mythopia. I've been waiting patiently for him to appear since I began playing.

Each biome has its own unique aesthetic, which I love. The Bind, as shown in the showcase will have a "dark academic" aesthetic with a thick forest of autumn leaves to navigate. Ever After, on the other hand is inspired by Scottish and Scandinavian folklore and features a forest of bioluminescent mushrooms and moss.

I am particularly impressed by Mythopia. The third biome is awash with gold fields and ancient ruins. Mount Olympus has an incredible level of detail etched in its stone. All three biomes are much more detailed than the valley, which I find fascinating. For example, there is a huge carved pegasus to pay homage Hercules. This level of detail also makes me feel that only using these areas for a single character feels like a waste. I'm hoping that more of Hercules' gang will be added in the future.

Despite the many details I saw in the showcase there is still one thing missing that I am eager to learn more about. Maleficent is going to play a major role in the story. She will appear on occasion in the first half of the DLC but will take on a larger role in the second part, along with another "mysterious" character. The second part of DLC is slated to be released in the summer of 2025. However, a specific date has not been announced.

The paid DLC isn’t the only thing that's worth getting excited about. In December, a free update will be released for the base game. On December 4, the Sew Delightful Update will be available, which includes Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and floating islands. This is a huge update for those of us who are running out of space to put villager homes.

The floating islands will be available in each biome. They will serve as a "blank canvas" rather than an additional biome to explore and forage. These floating islands won't be infested by Night Thorns or rotting stumps. They will remain empty until you decorate them. You can build on a floating island that is the same size as each biome (except for the Peaceful Meadow or Dazzle Beach).

According to the showcase, you will need to unlock these floating islands using Dreamlight. Each island is estimated to cost 15,000 suckers. The space that is being added makes it worth the effort of completing Dreamlight Duties. Now that we have new faces in the valley, you can place more villager houses.

Sew Delightful will also bring some smaller updates, including 16 rotation points for placeable items. This is a big upgrade over where we are now, and you'll also be able place cooked dishes. The update will also bring a brand new Star Path, which is sure to be a welcome change for those who are not inspired by the current rockstar theme. There is a lot to look forward to for Disney Dreamlight Valley in the months to come, and I am more than ready to meet some new faces.
