The final trailer of Factorio: Space Age teases some sick-looking planetary adventures

We're only a few days away from the release date of Factorio: Space Age, and there's an awesome new trailer that gives a good overview without giving too many spoilers about the new worlds. If you have been living under a stone, this is Factorio’s massive new expansion. It more than doubles game size and comes with a free 2.0 update packed with quality-of-life goodies.

The four new worlds offer a wide range of possibilities for building and exploring. Not to mention the terrain variety with Space Age's completely redesigned world generation algorithms.

The trailer takes you through the hot, magmatic Vulcanus and its oceans filled with molten metals. It then moves to the swampy, lichen-covered Gleba. This is a world full of organic products which can spoil. I was also immediately drawn to a new twist on Factorio’s enemies: pentapods that look like starfish.

Factorio 2.0 also brings a number of smaller improvements. Objects on conveyors can now be stacked, allowing your Factories to achieve throughput levels previously thought impossible. Please remain calm while I say that they are adding elevated train lines. I know. I know. Just thinking about it makes my heart race again.

It's amazing to think that it's a game as big as the original Factorio again. It's a stunningly good, deeply optimized game that could easily consume hundreds of hours from even casual players. It's a very addictive game that has led to people working together on massive projects like the networked 'God Factory' that took thousands of man-hours to complete.

You can compare the Space Age trailer from today with the 2016 trailer. That's a pretty significant improvement in terms of visuals and performance.

Factorio: Space Age will be available on Factorio.com, Steam and on October 21.
