Troy Baker doesn't try to do an 'accurate' impression of Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Troy Baker, a Vetern voice actor, didn't audition for Indiana Jones because he thought he wouldn't be able do it. Baker will still be the voice for the famous archaeologist, pulp hero and Machine Games' sprawling adventure Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.
"I initially passed [on the Indiana Jones part] because, truthfully, I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able pull it off. Tom Keegan, the voice acting director, saw past my insecurities. He encouraged me to record myself for this still.
The rest is archeology - sorry, history. Baker will play Indy because he has realized that he is not trying to impersonate Harrison Ford, but rather Indiana Jones.
"The beauty is that this is not about 'can I make a great impression?' It's about 'can we feel like Indiana Jones? It's not about 'can you make a bang-on impression?' but 'can we feel like this is a real Indiana Jones? Baker said that the essence of this whole thing is: Does this feel like an authentic Indiana Jones movie?
It's funny that Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard initially didn't like Troy Baker for the role, but he changed his mind before the end.
"My favorite part is when Todd Howard, upon hearing my name, rolled his eye and said, 'No. I'm not going to put Troy Baker in my game. Baker said, "I never imagined that I would be in it either."
Troy Baker is a well-known voice actor, especially for video games. He is Joel in The Last of Us Part 1 & 2, Sam Drake in Uncharted 5 Booker Dewitt, The Joker, Batman: Arkham Origins and many more. Baker is new to taking on a character like Indiana Jones, which is closely linked to a famous actor.
