Klonoa: Empire of Dreams Critic Reviews

A thinking man's platformer.

Bright, kaleidoscopic levels fill every inch of the screen, while the music and sound effects play nicely with Klonoa’s game style.

An enriching game experience with lots of technical moves and hours of gameplay. It does not, however, offer much in the way of new style or play for the GBA.

Addictive, famously frivolous, and yet so well designed that even the most serious gamer can enjoy it; Klonoa just simply rocks the GBA world.

Absolutely wonderful.

Rounding out the package is a beautiful story where Klonoa must literally fight for the freedom to dream—a freedom that has been denied by a grouchy Emperor suffering from chronic insomnia.

It has some of the most brain-bending and sophisticated gameplay of any platform-style action/adventure game released in years.

It plays much like its PlayStation and PS2 counterparts, but feels more at home on the 2D-friendly Game Boy Advance than it did on higher powered consoles.

Sound issues aside, Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is a solid platformer that's loaded with its share of addictive challenges and quests.

Nowhere as ambitious as Klonoa 2 on the PS2. However, it is a highly respectable emulation of the general feel of the Klonoa universe.

More of a puzzle game than a platformer with great graphics and sound.

Despite its strictly 2D perspective, the game just looks phenomenal.

Unfortunately the game follows a highly structured pattern of progression, which can be a slight turnoff to some.

Just isn’t exciting enough and without the necessary speed or danger you are left with a below par racer which soon runs out of gas.
