MediEvil: Resurrection Critic Reviews

Really easy to pick up and play. The controls are very easy and responsive. The mini puzzles that are presented to the gamers are easy enough to understand yet still provide a nice challenge.

Offers a quality presentation of a sometimes-awkward game, but for the most part you can overcome the quirky camera and really get into the melee and ranged combat. And the collection of mini-games rivals a handheld version of "Mario Party."

MediEvil is ultra-polished, filled with wonder and brilliant level design and set to a soundrack I'd put up against any cosole game on the market.

A solid title whose best features include the humor, story, and amount of modes the game offers.

Minor technical issues aside, this is one of the more polished games on the PSP in terms of presentation.

A quirky, lighthearted third-person action-adventure that's a fun and engaging diversion - ideal for the PSP.

It's a great looking game with top-shelf cutscenes, voiceacting and writing. The gameplay itself is just slightly above average but it's plenty challenging enough for gamers of all levels.

Unfortunately, both the action/adventure sequences and the platforming/puzzle solving sequences are fairly basic and, therefore, rather easy.

MediEvil Resurrection is largely based on old hack n' slash design tropes (like collecting runes to open doors and rudimentary arena-based boss battles) that seems a bit dated in this day and age.

While the flawed camera system and occasionally awkward attack mechanics can make the gameplay a little troublesome at times, on the whole MediEvil is a thoroughly fun title.

The camera issues and combat problems complicate this version of Sir Dan’s adventures, making this one less than perfect, but more than adequate as a basic platformer.

Unfortunately, the lack of fundamental necessities like better camera functionality and fighting mechanics end-up weighing down the experience. We simply need a camera that controls better.

A solid, albeit formulaic action game that you should take or leave depending on how important things like story and humor are to you. Love to laugh? Get this game.

On a technical level, the control scheme is a pain in the ass!

It's funny, there are plenty of new locales and characters, and the production values are admirable, though the framerate chugs and the camera could be more refined.

While it's not the most original game of its kind, fans of MediEvil should like this slick redux of the popular PlayStation platformers. The wireless multiplayer minigames are a nice bonus, too.

While fairly on the generic side, Resurrection does manage to offer a decent platforming experience for gamers searching for something new.

The strongest feature the game has though is the comedic tone of the game. When you play it, you almost feel as if you are in a Monty Python game, or one of Tim Burton’s animated movies.

Using Sir Dan as a mascot platforming character wasn't the best idea. Jak & Daxter on the other hand, might have been - but we'll just have to wait for that treat later on in the year.

It's challenging, fun, genuinely hilarious, and sets the benchmark for future PSP games in this genre - the likes of Daxter and Prince of Persia have a lot to live up to.
