No Man's Sky will be a full-blown cosmic terror for a whole fortnight for Halloween.

The new No Man's Sky adventure is a space horror game where you have to avoid space pirates, cute aliens and the boundaries of reality. The Cursed, a new game that launches today, is set in the twilight world, a place where reality and fantasy meet. It looks beautiful--much more so than the dead planets that I always encounter when I return every six months to the game.

What does it mean in practice? It means that there's creepy stuff everywhere, but it might not be. Your exosuit now has an Anomaly Supressor that keeps you sane, and therefore presumably protected from some of the worst aspects in unreality. This module must be maintained. If you don't, the peaceful octopi in the sky may start to lash at you.

Travel is also restricted: instead of warping from star system to star system with hyperdrive technology, you'll have to use the "ancient gateway network" while you travel around the Galaxy. You will be doing the bidding for mysterious haunting voice whose motives remain unclear. No Man's Sky sounds like an enjoyable guided experience.

The rewards are: a bunch decorative posters for your base; an Anomaly Seal, which is a base part that doesn't actually do anything but looks cool in No Man's Sky, a jetpack trail with ink stains, and my favorite, a bioluminescent friend.
This is the 16th No Man's Sky Expedition, which will run until November 7, 2018. This update follows the Aquarius Update, which added fishing to No Man's Sky.
