Red Dead Redemption modified so that wagons and horses move at supersonic speed - the results are ridiculous
One look at our Red Dead Redemption 2 Review will show you that it is a masterpiece of a RPG that takes video game immersion to a new level. RDR2 is an excellent game, there's no doubt about that.
What would make Red Dead Redemption 2 better? Supersonic horses, I know what you are thinking! What better way to inject that X factor into an already great game to make it S-rank? What was Rockstar's reasoning for not making maximum horse-and-wagon velocity a toggleable feature? !
Blurbstv, a talented content creator, has our backs. He modifies Red Dead Redemption 2, allowing us to achieve the dream of supersonic horses. As you can see in the video below, it's a pretty ridiculous result.
So, yeah. As Blurbstv points out, horses and wagons moving at supersonic speed in Read Dead Redemption 2, actually adds a level to chaos horror. Stallions and wagons suddenly appear at supersonic speeds, making crossing the road a life or death situation. Arthur Morgan is seen at various points in the video going about his Wild West business before he is suddenly ambushed by a horse and cart combination. Morgan is thrown into the air, crushed by wagon wheels or ragdolled violently to the nearest structure.
The game engine seems to be broken when you increase the speed of horses and wagons. They seem to careen into buildings and NPCs without any apparent reason. There's also the time when Arthur is trying catch-up to stop a horse-drawn carriage for a story-mission, but instead finds himself chasing after a carriage flying through the sky with horses zipping and zagging like descendants of Pegasus.
It's fair to say this is not the way you should play Red Dead Redemption 2 the first time. I'm going out on a limb and guessing that it might break the believable Wild West vibes of the late-19th century. If you've played RDR2 enough and want to inject it with some cuckoo bananas madness, this looks like an idiotic way to do it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be the most modifed game on PC but there are many other great mods for this RPG from 2024. For example, the Jobs Mod lets Arthur become a bartender or dockworker and a delivery man. If you want to enhance the base experience of Red Dead Redemption 2, this is a mod worth checking out.
