Runescape’s latest content roadmap features group ironman mode as well as a new skilling enemy and exciting advancements to woodcutting.

Runescape has just released a new roadmap for upcoming content. Runescape developer Jagex announced Runescape Ahead on YouTube. It says that this will be an ongoing format to provide long-term updates. Jagex revealed in the first installment what will be coming to Runescape by late 2024 or early 2025. This included new story quests, bosses, group ironman mode and more. Woodcutters, try to contain your excitement: You're going to get a new tree.

Jagex will begin its autumn updates by releasing a new Underworld Dungeon. Players will have to face a new skilling enemy in order to enter the shrine and earn new rewards. Jagex plans to bring a group Ironman mode to Runescape later in autumn along with a new Halloween event, Harvest Hollow. A team of players will be able earn unique cosmetic rewards by using only the items they can gather, make, and loot between themselves, all without XP bonuses.

Jagex will implement all skill updates requested by players. A fourth Necromancy Conjure Ability will be available in the autumn. Players with enough skill can summon a phantom Guardian. A new Slayer monster will be available to hunt. It offers a Necromancy upgrade on the Slayer Helm.

Winter will bring a new quest, in which players will return to desert to complete their "unfinished" business with Amascut the devourer. Woodcutting and Fletching, in line with recent Mining and Smithing updates, will receive a 110 skilling upgrade around that time. This update will bring a new tree for players to cut and a new hatchet with which to do so, as well as new level 100 and Masterwork ranged weapons. There are big changes in the wood sector.

Christmas Village will be back to end the year, with new quests and activities. There will also be more chances to earn a Black Partyhat. In early 2025 there will be 110 skilling upgrades for Runecrafting and Crafting, and a final skilling overhaul that will make skilling "competitively lucrative" with combat loot. A second and third quest for the new desert questline will be released along the way. The questline will culminate in a new boss battle with Amascut in mid-2025.

I'm not sure what any of that means. But the Runescape players in the YouTube comments are clearly thrilled. "As RS3 players, it felt like we had been forgotten about for years. Nothing but a gravy-train to boost profits," writes @sportsomania. It's great to see that the team is working hard to bring new content to us.
