The Silent Hill 2 remake secret photos has been cracked by a player, and the developers couldn't be happier. 'There was a belief in our company that it might be too difficult'
Silent Hill 2 remake has a lot of new puzzles, which players have been tackling since launch. However, the most important one was only recently solved by a dedicated player.
"I cracked the Silent Hill 2 remake photo secret," says a player by the name of DaleRobinson. If you count the things in each photo (for instance, the open window in photo 1 = 6) and then multiply that number by the writing on each, you'll get a letter. It says: "You've lived here for 20 years."
DaleRobinson figured this out by following the steps below: There are 26 pictures in the Silent Hill 2 remake, and one of them contains a letter that will help you decipher the solution: "You've lived here for 20 years." You can determine which letter is in the answer by counting the key objects on each photo, and then comparing that number with the writing beneath the picture.
Under the first photo you might see "So many people!" You will also see six windows, so you must select the sixth letter, "Y". DaleRobinson explains the workings of each letter and links to a list with every photo so you can double-check the answer.
The puzzle is a difficult one to solve. I can understand how the developers of Silent Hill 2 were able figure it out, but I doubt I could. I'm also not ashamed of this, because the dev team of Silent Hill 2 thought the puzzle too hard.
Mateusz Lenart, creative director and chief designer, says: "I knew that it wouldn't remain hidden for long." "(There was a belief in our company that this puzzle was too difficult) I wanted to make sure I painted the photos in a subtle way. I think you solved it at the perfect time. Congratulations!"
This puzzle confirms another popular fan theory, that the Silent Hill 2 remake is a looping tale and that James is stuck in an endless nightmare. There are also other clues that the game is in a loop. Twitch streamer Deadhead suggested a few weeks ago that you can tell a Silent Hill 2 remake has a looping story by certain actions of key characters. For example, Pyramid Head is more subdued in the remake than the original and Maria mentions having deja vu. Deadhead also points out that many of the dead bodies in Silent Hill resemble James. "There were hints in the Silent Hill 2 remake of some sort of loop taking place as many of these random human corpses resembled James," Deadhead explains.
It is unclear whether these small features prove or disprove the theory about Silent Hill 2, but we know Bloober Team intended to create a looping narrative for James to suffer through for the rest of his eternity.
