Starship Troopers Extermination's 16-person bug battles are now available in a 1.0 version.

Cooperative first-person shooter Starship Troopers: Extermination has released out of early access and into 1.0, bringing its 16-person giant space arachnid/beetle/wasp/scorpion/bug shooting action to a state that developer Offworld considers properly done. The core of the game has been released, though development will continue. It includes persistent corpses, six different classes to choose from, and a cooperative galacticfront mode where players can cooperate to win the battle and organize themselves into in-game companies.

This week's 1.0 update added a tutorial for solo play called Special Operations Group, or S.O.G. This adds some real narrative to the game's action. Offworld calls this Chapter 1, and says that "more chapters are in development."

Offworld will also add more performance and optimization before the end of the year, as well as a loadout for classes and continue to offer side missions, clan features and performance and customization options.

Offworld has released a roadmap detailing what it plans to add to Extermination over the next year. In the first quarter of 2025, players will be able to use new abilities and perks. There will also be five new classes. The morita rifle will also have an under-barrel attachment for a shotgun. I don't know what "bug holes" mean, but I'm sure it's obvious: Throw a nuke into a bughole and you'll get a lot dead bugs.

In 2025, Extermination will receive a new map and bug type, as well as a second tutorial chapter.

Starship Troopers Extermination is available on Steam.
