Tekken 8 apologizes for not meeting community expectations after failing to include a $5 level in its season pass.

Bandai Namco's Tekken 8 monetisation system has landed them in hot water throughout this year. Sneaky cash shops first attracted fan ire in February. The more recent criticism came as a result that the newest stage, Genmaji Temple was not included with the season pass.

Players were asked to pay an additional $5 over and above the $40 Deluxe Edition Upgrade Pack which includes the "Playable character Year 1 Pass". You can only buy each character separately after the 72-hour early access for Deluxe Edition has expired.

Bandai Namco has been trying to make amends after a rash of negative Steam reviews for both the DLC stage and Tekken 8 itself. The recent reviews have a shocking Mostly Negative score of 34% while the overall review rating is Mixed with 66% positive ratings.

The Tekken Twitter account tweeted: "We apologize for failing to meet the community's expectation for the "Playable Character year 1 Pass" content, and the "Genmaji Temple DLC release method." "After thoroughly discussing feedback, the Tekken Project has decided on the measures below:"

Season pass holders will receive the next winter stage free of charge. We don't yet know what the stage will be, as we are still in the dark regarding the final character of the pass. However, we will probably find out during the Tekken World Tour Finals in early December.

Regardless of whether you own the Genmaji Temple or the pass, anyone who logs in between October 29 and November 26, will receive 500 Tekken Coins. The coins are the same value as the stage, though you'll need to buy it with real money. You can combine them with the 100 free coins you get from the fight pass if you want to.

It's a small victory for fans who have been fighting back against some of Tekken 8's more egregious monetary choices. I assume the goodwill extends only to the upcoming stage. It would be nice to see future levels included with the pass as they were in Tekken 7. But I'm not expecting it.
