Gather resources to create everything you need to make the world your own. Build a house, a fort, or even a castle. People will move in to live there and perhaps even sell you different wares to assist you on your journey.

It may not be the best possible way to play Terraria, but taken on its own merits the Xbox version is still a triumph.

As absorbing and oddly addictive an experience as you'll find on 360. Just keep an eye on the clock - this game devours hours at a time.

It's a slow starter, then, but you'll struggle to find a game this year that offers quite so much as Terraria.
