What if I used three yellow and one green letters to start my sentence? Fantastic. The pressure of having to go from nothing to almost all in one go, and knowing that I would bring shame on my family if I failed to solve today's Wordle by my next guess was also a factor. Fortunately for all of us, I was able turn the next row green. Although I did take a little more time than usual to check and double-check my guess.

Wordle: Learn more about it

Wordle will give you six rows of boxes every day. Your job is to find the five-letter word hidden in each box by confirming or eliminating the letters.

Start with a strong, simple word, such as LEASH, which contains multiple vowels and common consonants. It also does not contain repeat letters. After you press Enter, the boxes will tell you if you got any of the letters right or wrong. If a box is turned, that means the letter in question is not part of the secret word. The letter is in the secret word, but it's not in the box. You've got the correct letter in the right place.

You should use a second "good" guess in order to cover any letters that you may have missed the first time. Also, you should avoid any letters that you know for sure are not present in today's solution. Then, you can use what you have learned to narrow down your guesses to the correct word. You can only use real words and you have six attempts. (So no filling in the boxes with EEEEE just to see if it's an E.) Remember that letters can also repeat (ex: BOOKS).

Wordle was originally created by software engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner, who loves word games. The game was then shared with his family and eventually released to the public. Since then, the word puzzle game has inspired a number of games such as Wordle. These games refocus the daily gimmick on music, math or geography. Wordle was so popular that it was bought by the New York Times in 2007 for seven figures. It's only a question of time until we all communicate exclusively in tricolor boxes.
