Acer claims that its next gaming PC will come with Intel's Arrow Lake chips. This seems a bit premature
Intel's latest desktop chips codenamed Arrow Lake have been relatively quiet. Intel proudly displayed its Lunar Lake mobile CPUs at IFA in Berlin this week. Acer has released a video showcasing its Predator Orion gaming PC with Intel Arrow Lake processors.
It's a bit premature to release promotional materials for 2024 models featuring the chips, as we haven't yet received a launch date. The product page confirms, however, that the new PC is "powered by [an] Intel Next-Gen Arrow Lake processor".
We still don't know which Arrow Lake processor we are dealing with, as the naming scheme has not been confirmed. Recent rumours suggest that three Arrow Lake-S Series chips will be released, called the Core Ultra 3205, Core Ultra 5235 and Core Ultra 5245. However, this is still speculation.
Whatever chips are included in the 2024 Predator Orion, they will get some serious cooling. This is thanks to a 360-mm radiator, which is part of a substantial liquid cooling system with a thicker plate and an upgraded pumps.
Acer Intelligence Space is "your central hub for intelligent devices features". This is supposed to detect your hardware and recommend compatible AI apps in order to "optimise your performance, enhance gaming experiences, and discover tools effortlessly".
The 2024 Predator 7000 can be specced to include an RTX 4290 in the GPU department. However, since we're getting ahead here, we could also say that it will probably be available eventually with Blackwell GPUs as well.
Current speculation is also rampant on this, and rumours suggest that the designs for RTX5080/D, RTX5090/D will be finalised by September.
This is still the first PC maker (to my knowledge) to openly promote Intel Arrow Lake processors in its PCs. Now, all that's needed is for them be launched, released, tested. The current state of things suggests that we may have to wait a little longer. We do know, however, that the new chips are going to be manufactured primarily at TSMC due to Intel's ongoing issues with nodes, and will not be affected by previous Vmin Shift instability issues of Raptor Lake.
In other news, I will be older in the future, and tomorrow will see the Sun rise. Probably. Just to be safe, I'm hedging here.
