Activision continues to ban accounts in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 as the Call of Duty banwave continues.

Activision has banned 65,000 accounts in the past week after a sudden spike in Call of Duty cheaters. They first targeted Warzone cheaters and boosters, and then Modern Warfare 3 cheaters and boosters.

The Call of Duty Twitter account states that "Team Ricochet accelerated cheat vendor enforcers resulting in 65,000 account bans in Ranked Play and Non-Ranked Modes in Warzone and in MW3 this past week," The team will continue to monitor cheating and boosting in all modes of play.

Activision has made a lot of noise in recent weeks about fighting cheaters. The studio began with a ban on Warzone and promised that Ricochet, its anti-cheat software, would make some bigger moves in the weeks to come.

Boosting is an issue in most competitive games. However, Call of Duty players are seeing a significant increase in this activity. Some players go so far as to create entire lobbys just to boost their SR. They play against bots, allowing them thousands of kills per match. It's so effective that a Warzone account reached second place on the leaderboards for doing it.

Most players aren't confident that the ban of over 65,000 accounts will make a difference. "And 65,000 cheaters immediately created new accounts after being banned," a player says. "Solved nothing!"

Call of Duty: Warzone can be played for free, so creating a new account is not expensive. To create an account, you'll need a phone number. Battle.et added this requirement to try to reduce smurfs and make it more difficult for banned cheaters to return. But all you have to do is create a burner number. Most people won't bother, but there are some who will go to great lengths.

Some players are angry with Ricochet as usual. Another player said, "Respectfully this type of mass banning in waves that you're doing now is the same thing you did in Warzone 1 without Ricochet." "Ricochet needs to be upgraded immediately as there is little to no automation."

Ricochet has not helped to reduce the number of players who are wrongly accused of cheating, and shadowbanned from the game for up two weeks. If you receive more than two reports from other users, it's possible that your account won't be able to queue for games for several days. One player was so angry at being banned twice that he went to Activision studios to complain.
