The HyperX Cloud Alpha. What can I add to the discussion about this headset? It's unlikely that I can add anything new to the legend of this headset, so I will just repeat it again for those dozen or so people who have yet to learn about its legend.

Cloud Alpha was our top pick for the best gaming headphone, or held in high regard for, well, pretty much the entire time that I have been writing professionally about tech? How time flies! HyperX Cloud Alpha has not changed in all that time. It is a solid performer thanks to its dual-chamber design, which keeps the bass booming and the mids mudding.

Cloud Alpha has recently reclaimed our top spot, thanks to A) Razer’s clone disappearing from the face of the earth, and B), frequent discounts.

It's a lot like the discount at Amazon, where it drops to $65 from a perfunctory $9 (it's never even that much). I checked the price comparison and it's the lowest price this year. However, it's still a bit short of the Black Friday price of $50.

Do not be put off by the age of your headset. A good headset is still good in many decades to come. Cloud Alpha is a wired headset that has a lot of good features. There are other technologies and wireless models if you want to go that route, but it feels like the Cloud Alpha got the most important things right.

In our HyperX cloud Alpha review (from 2018 mind you), we said about the headset: "Punchy and well-balanced, you can hear glass fragments fall to the ground after it goes off."

Phil Iwaniuk, our reviewer, also noted that there is no need to load your PC with any annoying software. He also praised the simple but comfortable design of the headband and earcups.

Since their release, we haven't really loved another HyperX headphone as much as we love the Cloud Alpha, except perhaps the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless. Cloud III and Cloud III Wireless aren't even close. If you're looking for a new pair of headphones, but can't be bothered to spend more money on the features-filled alternatives, why not go with one of the best for a reasonable price?
