AMD's best graphics cards already made this Cooler Master Gaming PC cheaper than any RTX 4080 super build, and it just got even more affordable
I have a soft corner for the AMD Radeon RX7900 XTX. This AMD GPU is almost two years old and is still one of the best graphics card for gaming. No need to refresh the model, just driver updates for a performance boost.
This Cooler Master TD5 Pro shows the 7900 XTX market power. Here's a high-end gaming computer for under $2,000, while the RTX 4080 Super is priced well above $2,000. This particular rig was on sale for $300 off for some time, but it's now even more affordable with a $350 reduction, retailing at $1,950.
The low price of this system is not because Cooler Master has cut corners. Far from it. This thing comes with a Core i7-14700KF processor and 32 GB DDR5-6000 RAM. This is faster memory than many high-end builds in this price range. It's also a CPU capable of handling productivity tasks. (Ensure you have the latest Intel Microcode installed to avoid any voltage instability.
The 7900 XTX is comparable to the RTX 4080 or RTX 4080 super, the best graphics card available on the market except for the outrageously priced RTX 4090. When the 7900 XTX was released, we didn't think it could compete with the RTX 408 but driver updates have improved its performance. The 7900 XTX is now able to compete with the RTX 4080 super, but it depends on the game.
The 7900 XTX is a great GPU card that will give you excellent performance without spending a lot of money on it.
Why is this AMD build so much cheaper than similar Nvidia builds? Nvidia graphics cards are better at ray tracing, upscaling/frame genration and ray tracing. AMD is closing the gap in upscaling/frame generation for many gamers who don't care about ray-tracing. If you're looking for pure gaming performance (i.e. raster performance), the 7900XTX can compete with one of Nvidia’s best gaming graphics cards.
This Cooler Master build should be considered if you're looking for a high-end PC but aren't set on Nvidia. This build offers everything you could want in a high-end gaming PC, and it's a lot cheaper than most of the usual builds that cost around $2,000.
