Black Myth: Wukong’s most-wishlisted Status means its new benchmarking tools is the 18th most popular 'game' right now on Steam

Black Myth: Wukong is the most-wanted game on Steam. Though it won't be released for a week. Ugh. We can use our time to prepare for the big day by repeatedly running the new benchmarking tool to nail our settings.

Download the new benchmarking tool from Steam. The tool is free and does not require that you have pre-ordered a game. It's a popular game in its own right. Since its release, it has become the 18th most-played 'game' on Steam with over 60,000 users at its peak.

We at the PC Gamer Hardware team are enthused by this kind of benchmarking passion. Hey, if benchmarking is your passion, why not come work here? This is not a joke.

I've been playing with the benchmarking software this morning and it seems to be pretty good in most aspects. You can adjust most of the settings in the tool, so you can find the best settings before the release of the game.

I've put my gaming PC to the test. It has an RTX 4000, Ryzen 9-5900X, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and too many SSDs for me to count. Also, it has a chunky air-cooled cooler. A 4K gaming monitor is also attached as a bonus. According to the benchmark I can crank out 70 fps in 4K (61 min) with all graphics settings maxed out, including ray tracing. I have DLSS in Balanced mode and Frame Generation on, which is a huge help.

The inclusion of DLSS and XeSS will help most gamers. We ran the benchmark at high settings with no ray-tracing and XeSS activated at 3440 x 1440 on Intel's Arc A770, and we managed to achieve 34 fps. It's not as good as Nvidia's best cards, but it is still playable.

It's worthwhile running the benchmark several times to get a steady score. I ran it and something was still building in background, which caused some stutters in the later run. By the third time, they were gone.

Black Myth Wukong will be released on August 20, 2024. Nvidia has already released drivers for the game. You can download them from the official Game Ready Driver website.

You'll need to make room on your PC if you want to install this game at launch. This game requires 130 GB, ideally on a SSD. Also, some sort of scaling, whether it's DLSS, XeSS, or FSR is expected. Here are the remaining system requirements:

Black Myth: Wukong has low requirements for your PC. Despite our own tests with the Arc A770 it's clear that you'll have to reduce most settings and crank XeSS to the maximum to run on an Arc A750.
