Blizzard coined 'Meat or treat' for Diablo 4’s upcoming Halloween Event and I refuse to call it that
The person who was given the task of naming Diablo 4’s upcoming Halloween event, "Meat or Treat", must have been very proud. I don't really like that phrase and would've preferred it to be the other way round. I suppose it's a little late to work on it more, as the four-day Halloween event begins next week.
Diablo 4 players that find a shrine that gives powerful buffs like temporary invulnerability on October 29 will have the chance to receive a "surprise" effect. The post implies that it won't be necessarily beneficial. We might see The Butcher regularly in dungeons, given that we have to call the game Meat or Treat due to The Butcher's involvement.
The cleaver wielding demon can appear randomly in any dungeon and ruin your day. I've been sliced up by him just minutes after creating a new character. Once you're ready, however, it usually takes him a while to finish growling "Fresh Meat!" He's probably going to get revenge for this Halloween event.
If the event is anything like previous seasonal celebrations--normally titled ones like "Midwinter Blight" and "Lunar Awakening"--the surprise effect will probably add a minor inconvenience that will reward you with loot for surviving. Maybe they will spawn extra enemies just to harass you. Blizzard does not punish players unfairly, especially when it comes to events that are meant to be fun.
Every day, the cosmetic shop offers a free item. This includes two horse mounts as well as two mount trophies. Diablo 4 is the videogame with the lowest ratio of normal horses compared to severely damaged ones. It's no surprise, then, that both options are horrifying. It's fitting for the occasion, yes, but I'll keep my healthy-looking tiger.
Diablo 4 events are usually generous with loot and XP bonuses. It's a great time to jump into the game. Season 6 has begun with all of the new changes that will make leveling faster and loot even more impactful. Vessel of Hatred is not required, but it's worth getting to experience the new spiritborn class and its powerful and flashy abilities.
