CD Projekt confirms that the live-action Cyberpunk is still happening. 'We're definitely further along than we were last year'

We learned a few months ago that the production company behind True Detective was bringing a live-action version of Cyberpunk to the big screen. There's not much more information about this project, but we do know that it is still in development.

Michal Nowakowski (via VGC), joint CEO of CD Projekt, says: "I mean, conceptual stage has different stages of advancement. So we're definitely further along than we were last year, but we're not yet at a stage where we could be selling the concept to potential studios or streamers." "I would say that it's a similar time frame between now and when we announced the project about a year back. I would expect us to start shopping it around within this window."

The last part, about the project being at a similar timeframe, sounds like something I would say to a school teacher after I forgot to turn in my homework. This project will likely fall outside CD Projekt's studios as it is up to the production companies to get it started. It doesn't seem like it has received much attention.

During CD Projekt's most recent financial update, we learned that The Witcher 4 was in full production. Piotr Nilubowicz, chief financial officer of CD Projekt, said: "I am pleased to announce that [Polaris] has moved to full-scale manufacturing several weeks ago. "This project is the most advanced of all our projects and we are now entering the most intensive development phase." I want to thank the team and keep my fingers crossed that we will continue to make progress. This is how you get to the point.

Nielubowicz confirmed in this update that Netflix will be collaborating with CD Projekt to create a new Cyberpunk-themed animated project. This is not a major announcement, as Netflix teased a Cyberpunk collaboration between CD Projekt and Netflix back in September during Geeked Week.

CD Projekt will have its hands full in the near future. I still hope to see some concrete proof that the Cyberpunk Live-action adaptation will actually happen and not just be something that gets indefinitely delayed as the years pass and other projects pile on.
