Claudia Black, a VA for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, says that she "wasn't liar... I honestly believed they were done with my favorite mage" after Morrigan's surprise appearance in the release date trailer.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard trailer revealed that Morrigan will be returning. This is a surprise considering Claudia Black, her voice actress, said in 2022, "Spoiler -- I'm not in this."

It turns out that she is. As she posted on Twitter, Black swears to God that she did not know: "Tee Hee. It's hard to keep secrets. I wasn't lying. "I honestly thought that they were done with my favorite mage."

Fair enough, it is. It takes a lot of time to develop a game. interesting is that Veilguard, the game formerly known Dreadwolf, was playable "start to finish" in October 2022. This was less than a week before Black's initial tweet. This implies that its story was in its first draft stage , before Black knew she would be returning.

This is not evidence of a grand conspiracy but rather a fun "how the sausage gets sliced" moment. BioWare seems to hammer everything into rough shape prior to bringing in its major voice actors or, at the least, saves the shorter roles for later in the development cycle.

Black insists, in a separate response: "On my life, I didn't even know." She also says that it's wonderful to be asked to reprise the role of Morrigan, as she is a character we all love. It brought back memories, because my son actually voiced Kieran, and I was a proud mom."

It's wonderful to have her back. Dragon Age: Origins played a big role in my childhood. I had both Morrigan and Alistair in my party, and their totally incompatible snarks brought me endless enjoyment.

Veilguard is not a game I'm completely sold on yet, but I hope that the most recent trailer will be a good sign for what's to come. Morrigan is sure to be a highlight, even if the game isn't my cup of tea. She is the original Witch of the Wilds.
