Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred has gone live and it's the perfect time to get started.

Vessel of Hatred is a new action RPG that feels brand new to someone who has played Diablo 4 for the past year. The new expansion is a lot like upgrading to a brand new phone. All the familiar features are still there, but they're faster and easier to operate. The new campaign is full of moments I never expected to see, especially in a dark fantasy tale where you are hunting another demon.

Diablo 4 2023 was not broken, but Blizzard needed to fix it so that it could be played as the action RPG intended by Blizzard. It was difficult to create a new seasonal character every three months, especially when it took so long to reach the maximum level and to find exciting loot. The fun was gone.

Blizzard has been digging up the fun for the past year. By the fourth season of Diablo 4, players were able to customize their loot to suit their character's build. Items had effects that changed your skills. You could do exciting things such as cast twice in a line or cover the whole screen. Season 5 refined things a bit more. With the launch of Vessel of Hatred and the Season of Hatred Rising comes a major overhaul to the way you level up in Diablo 4.

Here are some of my favorite new features of Vessel of Hatred.

  • The new Spiritborn class is fast, intuitive, and flashy.
  • Kurast Undercity is an epic race against the clock, featuring some of the most intense boss fights ever seen in a game
  • It's a game changer to be able to mark a city as my favorite for teleportation.
  • You can make your build better by borrowing other classes' skills through runewords, such as a sorcerer teleport.
  • The mercenaries can be a lot of fun and literally save your life in a fight

Diablo 4 launched with a solid foundation. In my Diablo: Vessel Of Hatred review I stated that it had "unparalleled gameplay where you can see and feel every spell illuminate the room." This is the kind of grippy action RPG combat that other games can't match. All the stuff that fuels this combat is now better.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred succeeds in understanding what players want from a live-service action RPG, without compromising Blizzard’s brand of making complex system surprisingly approachable. It found a perfect balance between depth and ease of use that will hopefully propel Diablo 4 to a brighter future when it releases another expansion next year.

Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred is now live, and there has never been a more perfect time to jump into the game.
