Dragon Age: The Veilguard sees the return of Inquisition’s protagonist. You can customize their appearance and vocalization.

A video preview by IGN of Dragon Age The Veilguard’s character creator revealed a shocking revelation about the way it will account for previous choices: The protagonist from Dragon Age: Inquisition appears in the game and we can customize their voice and background to match our saves.

The relevant section is at 4:36 in IGN's video preview, where a portion of the "Customize World State menu" from The Veilguard can be seen. We'll have the option to choose from the main character backgrounds from Inquisition and even which of the four voice actors will be representing them. The class selection is noticeably absent. However, we can tweak their appearance with the same character creator that was used for Veilguard's Veilguard.

The Inquisitor is going to have a neat little Guts robot arm, which will be a nice way to make up for Solas, the primeval trickster god who chopped off his hand at the end Inquisition’s capstone Trespasser dlc. Wouldn't that awkward reunion be? My money is on Inquisitor as a major NPC in Inquisition like Cullen or Leliana. I also love that they are wearing a variation of their awful grey jimjams from the home game.

The story was not finished in Trespasser but I am still amazed at how BioWare implemented the character. It's cool to see the Inquisitor voice actors return, even though they're not the protagonist of the game this time. It's not the first time that this has happened with Dragon Age: Dragon Age 2 Hawke played a key role in Inquisition and could be customized in that title. Check out our preview of the first six hours of The Veilguard. Spoiler alert: it looks pretty good.
