Early Black Friday sales have brought the budget wireless gaming headset that I always steal out of the PC Gamer kit cabinet down to just $55. It's actually quite good.

" data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">I have a confession: I wear Heavys H1H headphone when I go to the PC Gamer offices. They're comfortable, they sound great, and it's fun to look like a fool with my huge headgear on the train.
I will raid our overflowing tool cupboard to find a replacement when I arrive. You may ask why. The Heavys have only beamforming microphones, which is not good enough for a noisy office where I attend video meetings.

I grabbed this Corsair Wireless HS55 instead. It's actually the non-Core version in the office. However, the headset is identical apart from the lack of iCUE. That's not a huge loss.
It's amazing how good this headset is. Especially when you can get one for only $55 right now at Newegg. It's our top budget wireless gaming headset for a good reason, and I've learned why over the last year.
You probably don't expect much from a wireless set, but it delivers where it counts. It's lightweight and comfortable, but heavy enough to feel snug against your skull.
There are also the drivers to take into consideration. This headset is a great example of why I love the sound of Corsair headsets. The 50 mm units can deliver a good dose of bass without sacrificing too much clarity. These aren't mind-blowingly great, but I grind my teeth when the audio isn't up to par. These are great, especially considering the price.
The mic isn’t the best, I admit it, but it does the job just fine. It's better than most budget models and much better than any beamformers that I've heard.
What else? It's got that subtle black finish, which looks just as good now as when I first pulled it out of the box. It also fits in a professional setting without making me appear like Captain Gamer from Gamerville at my job, errr, PC Gamer.
Jacob, our Jacob, thought they looked cheap in his review. I respectfully disagree. Horses for Courses and all that. But I think they're dandy and have stood up to the regular office abuse with aplomb.
I have started calling them Ol' Reliable. If you're looking for gaming cans that are able to withstand the disaster that is me, then this is it. It's not a fantastic headset, but it does the job of being a good budget gaming headphone without complaint.
