God of War Ragnarok, a rare victory for videogame discourse will include a PC setting that reduces puzzle hints.

When God of War Ragnarok was released on PlayStation, Kratos sparked a flurry of angry reactions from players. The problem was the puzzles, or rather that Ragnarok only allowed a few seconds to try out possible solutions before Atreus and Mimir would shout exactly what you had to do to advance.

Ragnarok had a "Puzzle Timing", but as Polygon noted only two days after Ragnarok was released, this setting extends the time available for completing a puzzle that has a time limit. According to Sony Santa Monica's lead UX designer Mila Pavlin, "Those settings don't impact the banter."

The disembodied head would tell you exactly where and what to throw your axe, no matter which setting you toggled. It's frustrating, yes, but who hasn't been trained to feel a sense of existential terror when we don't have forward momentum? Maybe the hints weren't allbad. Has anyone else noticed that the driving has gotten worse in recent years?

Online videogame discourse is able to achieve good things. Sony Santa Monica announced today that God of War Ragnarok will be receiving new features with the PC release. One of these was the option to reduce the number of puzzle hints. Santa Monica Studio announced that a new option on the Gameplay Settings tab will reduce the frequency at which you hear your companions give puzzle hints. This is a great option to try whether it's your second or first playthrough. Ragnarok puzzles aren't difficult, but they do require a little chill exploration to find the right bib to bob.

Ragnarok will also get a new accessibility feature to add cinematic audio description. Santa Monica Studio explained that enabling the Audio Description option under the Audio Accessibility Menu will play audio descriptions during cinematics. These descriptions will provide contextual information along with the spoken dialogue, creating a more detailed experience.

The new Ragnarok settings will be available to PC users as well. Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok's additional options will be released on consoles soon.

God of War Ragnarok will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store from September 19.
