Here's what I would buy on Cyber Monday if I weren't a devoted MMO player, and I hadn't already spent $142 this year for access to catboys or Xal'atath.

Dear Reader, I am not going to sugarcoat it--I have been a little short this month. There are many things I could blame for this. The UK has been experiencing a cost-of-living crisis for years. My winter electricity bill is huge, and I have to buy Christmas gifts. I'm also a relatively new writer for a website that focuses on videogames, which isn't the most lucrative job.

But I am also not reckless with my spending habits. I am cursed by the burden of playing MMORPGs. I have spent the entire year subscribing to Final Fantasy 14 and the last few months to World of Warcraft. I'm due for a new monitor, and I realised that I would have had the money to buy it if I hadn't done that.

The ASRock Phantom is an upgrade from my current, crappy, 1920 x1080 setup. It's 2560x1440 and has a refresh rate which shoves my 60Hz, 8-bit garbage slab into a lockup and steals its money. It's also eminently affordable right now, with a Cyber Monday price of $142, discounted by $97.

This is about PS112 to me. A Final Fantasy 14 monthly subscription costs around PS7.70, and I have been playing WoW for four months (about PS10 per month) this year. In 2024, I will have spent PS117 (roughly $142) on my chronic desire to see catboys and my knife-wielding wife Xal’atath. I would have enough PS5 (without delivery costs) to buy a meal at a UK supermarket.

I weep at the missed opportunity.

If you're a rich moneybag who can afford to play MMORPG , andhave spare income, then this thing is a steal at the moment. Jacob Fox, our very own Jacob Fox, even praised it during Amazon Prime Day in July. It's now a few dollars less expensive than it was when I could have afforded it.

Anyway, I'll continue plodding along on my stone age setup--alternatively, I'll see about selling a liver or two. Who needs organs when G'raha Tia is available in 1440p. Not me.
