I want one. For only $2,900,000. You can own a Batmobile with a V8 6.2-litre engine. That's a bargain, if you ask my opinion.
Look, I'm not asking for much. I'm the type of person who's happy with a small house in the suburbs and a great gaming PC. And the occasional cold pint of ale. If someone were to give me a luxurious holiday gift, I would add a large item to my list.
Wayne Enterprises Experience has ten real Batmobiles available for pre-order. They were built by Action Vehicle Engineering. I'll tell you straight up, this is what my heart desires the most (via The Register). Although the Nolan Batman films were of varying quality, I think we all agree that "The Tumbler' Batmobile design is cool as hell. And now it looks like a reality, I would be a fool to not put my hand up for a one.
You'd only need to spend $2.9 million. I know it's not a small sum, but what is being offered? It's powered with a 6.2L V8 engine that produces 525 HP, has a paddle-shift, and comes with "advanced upgrades" (whatever they are), a smoke screen delivery system, and fake gun turrets. Be still, my ever-aging heart.
The estimated weight is 5,511 lbs (1 387 lbs less than the top-spec Cybertruck I hasten you to add) and it's made from a combination kevlar and carbon fibre with a steel frame of aeronautical grade. It also has disc brakes on all four corners, which is a detail I love to see added to a Batmobile's spec sheet. What else was supposed to be on it, drum brakes perhaps? What else was it supposed to have? A boat anchor, perhaps? Anyway, let's continue.
I haven't yet gotten to the interior, which is described by the manufacturer as "authentic...with custom-made seating trim". It features a digital dash, "premium navigation", one-way mirror glass screens, and a two seat configuration. It's only left-hand drive, which is a little disappointing for a UK resident, but I don't think it matters.
It's unlikely that it will meet road safety standards, err, anywhere. But who is going to stop Batman? It's unlikely that it will meet road safety standards anywhere, but who is going to stop Batman?
Everyone knows that he is out there fighting for justice. I think we all agree that we should let him continue his path of morally questionable destruction.
My only hesitation (ok, it might be a big hesitation) is that this all seems a bit too good to true. I can't shake the feeling that it might not meet expectations when it is finally heaved from the back of a pickup truck onto your lawn.
Oh, and it does not shoot flames. In this particular case, I'll set aside my scepticism to take a gamble. All I need is some cash. Sign me up, please, friends, relatives and oligarchs. I promise that I will never ask for anything again.
