I want to buy a 4K OLED Gaming Monitor so badly and with both Alienware's and Samsung's on sale for $200 or more off, I'm probably going to sell my pet.

What is the going price on eBay for a closet of old tee-shirts, a factory-sealed ATI Radeon AGP 8500 in time-warp conditions, a mostly house-trained Cocker Spaniel, and a boxed, factory sealed ATI Radeon? I'm selling the lot to get some 4K OLED action. Sorry, B-dog.

Both the Alienware 32-inch 4K gaming monitor and the Samsung version have been shaved at least $200. The Alienware is now $999, and the Samsung is just under $1000.

My metaphorical flush is over.

Let's start with the Alienware AW3225QF. It seems like I reviewed this laptop just a few weeks back (it was April), but Alienware has already cut $200 off its asking price. The price is now $999 on Dell’s website.

The Alienware is notable for its curved panel. Most of the other 32-inch 4K displays are flat. I'm not certain if curved is a good thing on a 16-by-9 screen, but it doesn't take anything away either.

It's also similar to other 32-inch displays using the Samsung QD-OLED panel. This means 240Hz refresh rate, ridiculous levels of HDR sizzle and ridiculously fast 0.03ms pixels response.

These screens have limitations. The maximum brightness for full-screen SDR is 250 nits, which is acceptable but not ideal. There's also the constant worry of OLED burn in.

Then it's a question of risk versus reward. The combination of 4K clarity with perfect OLED lighting per pixel, plus the speed mentioned above, is the reward. I'm sold.

When we reviewed Samsung’s 32-inch QDOLED 4K panel in our review, its high price was a deterrent. Also, the annoying TV features were also a problem. Now that it's more than $250 cheaper, it's forgiven for everything. Take my money. Take my money.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 G80SD was a big turn-off for me due to its high price and the nastiness of the SmartTV. With $257 off, the price is now $1,041 at Amazon. It suddenly looks more appealing.

It's notable that this is the only 32-inch OLED 4K we've tested with a matte anti glare coating. Personally, I like glossy coatings because they bring out the HDR and contrast of OLED panels. If you prefer matte, which is understandable, then the Samsung is the best choice.

A lower price makes it easier to see the SmartTV as an extra. You can also enjoy the premium design and build quality knowing that you got a great deal.

Where is the spaniel hiding? Here, boy!
