Have you ever seen something that you wish you hadn't? This shabby Skytech Legacy gaming computer makes me feel that way. It's either that, or I wish I had a couple thousand shiny green bills lying around.

Skytech Legacy gaming computer is currently on sale at Newegg, for $2,230. This includes $670 off the list price. It offers something that most do not: the option to double as an ultra-high-end content creation system. In the past, such a system may have targeted a niche (gaming and video creation combined), but I would argue that it's a growing market.

Let's start by looking at the gaming aspect. The Skytech Legacy comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and an Nvidia RTX RTX4080 Super graphics card. This is the best CPU and graphics card for gaming that you can get right now. This PC can handle any game, even if it's at 4K resolution and ultra settings.

If you're just looking for a PC to play games, there are probably better options than this Skytech PC. Newegg, for example, offers an Andromeda Insights rig with an RTX 4000 Super and Ryzen 7 800X3D processor for only $2,100. It also has slightly faster memory than the Skytech build (5,600 MT/s as opposed to 6,000 MT/s).

But builds like this one will not give you the same content creation and productivity capabilities as the Skytech build. This is due to the 64 GB DDR5-5600 memory. This is not the fastest memory, but it has a lot of capacity. It's more than enough for gamers and some enthusiast or professional workloads.

What are the workloads? These include video editing, photo-editing, music production and memory-intensive software (including game development).

The SSD of 2 TB will also be a major benefit in these cases. A 1 TB SSD is barely enough for a modern mainstream gaming build, and it wouldn't be enough for a gaming/content creation build. 2 TB is much more reasonable given the large files that content creators are likely to be working with, on top of the game installs.

Gamers who are creative professionals or enthusiasts don't need to look any further. Serial hobbyists, like myself, would be much happier knowing that their PC could handle whatever hobby they might choose as their next dopaminergic focal point, whether it's music production or video editing.
