According to TechCrunch's report, 156,000 people have signed up for Daze's waitlist after watching these TikTok product demo videos.

There are a range of creative tools available, including libraries of gifs, stickers, photos, and fonts. I can't wait for my contacts to be terrorised by some truly eye-searing, noughties-era word art missives. Daze's collaborative canvas is powered by AI, according to the description.

Willem Simons, the project's founder, did not go into details about the heavy lifting AI is doing for Daze in his conversation with TechCrunch. Instead, he explained the app's current position on the market. The New York-based entrepreneur stated:

"Our goal for Daze was to create a fully featured messenger that competes with iMessage and WhatsApp, but still has a range of fun and creative features. You can type a quick message and send it, or drag it anywhere in the chat. It is very easy to use, and it's also very utilitarian. But it's also free and unconstrained."

Daze's product demo videos may be slick but will they last? It's currently being tested with 1,400 invite-only users. A source close to the company told TechCrunch, that of the users who sent a message, more than 50% were still using the application 60 days after. It may not be a daydream afterall.
