It's only natural that Mythic Quest - Apple TV's comedy show about an MMORPG - will get an expansion in 2019.
Mythic Quest will start its fourth season, a comedy series produced by Ubisoft Film & Television, on Apple TV+ in January. It's a bit ironic that a show on video game development is also releasing a new expansion. Side Quest is a spin-off series of Mythic Quest that will air in the month of March.
Season 4 of Mythic Quest starring Rob McElhenney and Charlotte Nicdao will premiere on Apple TV+ January 29. The cartoonish saga continues the development of the fictional MMORPG Raven’s Banquet. Side Quest will begin airing on March 26, a series that focuses on "the lives" of MMO employees, players and fans.
Side Quest will also star McElhenney--naturally the character he plays, Ian Grimm, is far too egotistical to not be involved in the spinoff--as well as feature actors Anna Konkle (PEN15), Derek Waters (Drunk History), William Stanford Davis (Abbott Elementary), and Bria Henderson (The Good Doctor).
Mythic Quest, which will start with a double-dose of episodes, will be broadcast weekly for the remainder of the season. Side Quest will release all four episodes on March 26. Take your time with the main show, but binge-watch the spinoff? It works for me.
I admit to being a lapsed Mythic Quest viewer, but I enjoyed the first two seasons. The cast and subject matter are both great. F. Murray Abraham will not be returning for season 4, as he was fired from the series in 2023 due to sexual misconduct, according to Rolling Stone. The writers handled the departure of his character from the show by having him drive off a cliff. That's fine!
