I've been busy building a Christmas PC gift guide using the Black Friday gaming deals that are available today
When did decent controllers become so cheap?
Since I got my hands on the 8BitDo Ultra 2C, I've thought that. At full price it costs $30, but right now you can get it for just $25.49 on Amazon. By the way, that's the Mint version I have. The other versions were just on sale yesterday, so keep checking back to see if you'd like a different colour.
The Ultimate 2C Wireless is a great option for those who want everything: USB-C charging and USB-C connections with 1,000 Hz polling on Bluetooth, USB-C connectivity, and extra buttons, although some may not like their placement near the R1/R2 button.
The fact that you can buy all of this for under $30 is great, but what really surprised me was how well-made and durable it felt. For the price, it's a great deal.
I've spent quite a bit of time switching between the Ultimate 2C controller and the standard Xbox controller, which is much more expensive. Yes, the Xbox One feels a little better, but it's not much different. There are some things that I prefer about the 2C. For example, the tactile feel of the ABYX buttons and the L1 and R1 button.
What about the pastel paint? Wow, I'm impressed.
Lenovo Legion Go has been offering some great deals for quite some time, even before Black Friday. Amazon is currently selling the 512GB version for $500.
Before you buy, take a moment to consider the option with double the storage.
The 1 TB version would be my choice, as long as it isn't too expensive. Lenovo has graciously dropped the price of the 1 TB model to $550, which is only $50 more than the 500 GB version.
Even if you are handy with a screwdriver, and would be willing to upgrade the 512GB version's storage manually - it still makes more sense to spend the extra $50 on the 1TB version. This is especially true for the Legion Go since it only houses SSDs that have an unusual form factor.
Yes, handhelds require less storage space than gaming PCs because you won't usually be playing the latest AAA titles that require 150GB of storage. But double the storage space for only $50 more? Count me in. PC Gamer recommends 2 TB of storage for a full gaming PC. So, 500 GB isn't enough for a handheld when the 1TB version is so cheap.
You can read my article on why you should choose a Legion Go. I'll just say that I fell for it the moment I used it.
The Legion Go is an impressive handheld with a 144 Hz screen and controllers that can be removed like the Nintendo Switch. It's also quite powerful thanks to the Z1 Extreme processor." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
Jacob Fox is here, a hardware tester and a purchase button masher. Let's take a look at some of the buttons I would personally be mash-ing this holiday season.
