I've spotted a Lenovo RTX-4080 gaming laptop at a Black Friday discount. We gave it 88% yesterday, err.

$2,649 B&H Photo: $1,999 (Save $650) Lenovo makes some great gaming laptops. This Legion Pro 7i is not an exception. This high-end model, which features the mighty RTX 4080 and Intel's top spec Core i9 Mobile CPU, should be able to handle any game that you throw at it. There's a good reason why we don't give gaming laptops scores in the high 80s very often. We are notoriously strict when it comes time to score, so a laptop that reaches those lofty heights must be absolutely fantastic.

You can be sure that the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 is a good one, since it scored 88% in our recent review. It's surprising that you can get one at B&H Photo for just $2,000.

I know that's a lot of cash. When you compare the specs of this laptop to those of other laptops with RTX 4080 graphics, it's a Black Friday gaming laptop deal that is hard to beat.

Let's take a look at the highlights. A CPU with an Intel Core i9-14900HX means 24-cores and blazing performance. It has 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, which is the right amount for a machine with super-high performance in today's world. A 240 Hz 1600p display? Superb.

Oh, and 175 W RTX4080. This is the highest we would go for a modern gaming notebook, because while you can buy RTX4090 machines, they are almost always a waste. The full-fat mobile RTX4080, though? It's true, this is a massive GPU. And it's surrounded with components that can push it to the limit.

I'd like to reiterate that 1600p display. It's a panel that measures 16 inches, so the resolution is good enough to keep everything sharp. The RTX 4080 is a powerful performer, even at 4K. It will have no problem pumping frames at a high rate to that display. Doesn't that 240 Hz rate of refresh make a lot of sense?

What did Katie not like about the Legion Pro 7i? It comes with a lot of bloatware, but that's an easy fix. The surface is a bit slippery and fingerprint-prone. It only has a 40-minute battery life when gaming. But that's what you get with modern high-powered gaming laptops.

You'll need to keep the machine plugged in if you want to make use of its hardware. This deal machine only has 1 TB of storage compared to our review sample which had 2 TB.

Did I mention we have a Black Friday SSD page specifically for that? We're really good at this kind of thing.

It's not a very long list of criticisms for a PC Gamer review. We put these machines to the test with a demanding set of benchmarks and hours of real-world testing. Lenovo was the clear winner. Impressive, ey?

One other criticism was the price. We felt that the MSRP of $2,729 was a bit high compared to its competitors. But for $2,000, what do you think? That's a great deal.
