Netflix announced a new Cyberpunk-themed animated series during Geeked Week. Though I have a feeling that if Studio Trigger was making it again, then we would know by now.

It's official: Cyberpunk 2077 will get a second animated show.

We've known that CD Projekt is keen to tell more heart-wrenching tales in the setting. But there's a big difference between "expect more for sure" versus "knowing we'll be getting more stuff very shortly." You can watch the teaser below, though it's one of those frustrating trailer-for-a-trailers that doesn't reveal much. You can get the same information by drawing a big N with a red pen on some yellow paper and staring at that for 30 seconds.

I am able to extrapolate some things from it using common sense and my memory. I'm not going spoil the ending, but this is a well-told story. Case closed.

I'm glad it's true, despite the fact that it has a special place in me. Existential crises aside. I prefer when a story can, you know, come to an end rather than having its narrative juices wrung out.

Second, this is probably not being produced by Studio Trigger. Netflix announced the joint venture between Netflix Animation, CD Projekt Red, and to be honest I think they would have let fans know if Trigger were involved to generate hype.

It's not a complete disappointment. Netflix Animation Studios usually partners with other studios to produce its series. It has a few wins so far. It worked with Titmouse on The Midnight Gospel, Sketchshark Productions on Centaurworld and Blue Spirit on Blue Eye Samurai. I can't recommend the latter enough, because it is absolutely amazing.

Netflix will decide how good it looks. Netflix won't do this on a shoestring, though, given Edgerunners' popularity. When will we get more information? "Soon." I've just cashed out my last free prediction with the oracles at Delphi, so we should all be waiting for now.
