Overwatch 2 receives a set of World of Warcraft crossover skins for the 20th anniversary
Overwatch 2 will get a series of four skins as a collaboration-crossover with developer Blizzard's World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary. The four skins cast Overwatch characters as similar-in-silhouette counterparts from across World of Warcraft's 20 year history.
The four skins include:
- Reinhardt as the Lich King
- Sylvanas windrunner as Widowmaker
- Magni Bronzebeard as Torbjorn
- Zenyatta as Thrall
Adorably, in the announcement trailer, the skins are shown on a ride which can only be found in the fictional Blizzardworld theme park in the Overwatch universe, which is also an actual level in the game.
Overwatch 2 has had a strange year. The long-running shooter performed better than expected in some metrics, and worse in others. Juno, the new spacetastic hero who was well received, was released after a slightly controversial mid-season patch. Overwatch 2's skins and pricing continue to be a source of controversy when strange bundles or promotions come out.
The 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft is going well. The PC Gamer Review gave Expansion The War Within an 80%, with Tyler Colp calling it "a huge step for storytelling in the MMO that is 20 years old."
WoW is preparing for its own event. This will bring back classic dungeons such as Blackrock Depths and the Ahn'Qiraj opening event. It will also bring back the coolest armor a Paladin has ever worn in a modernized version for the Judgment Set.
