Performance figures for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D are now available ahead of its release. I'm already starting to regret buying a 7800X3D just a few weeks ago.

After Prime Day, I stumbled upon a deal for a gaming computer that was just too good to pass up. It's equipped with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 4070 Super. I'm happy with the performance of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and all of the mid-'00s RPGs that I've been nostalgic about. While I do not regret my purchase, recent leaked Ryzen 7 8800X3D benchmarks indicate that the 7800X3D is likely to be surpassed as the best gaming processor.

Igor's Lab noted that, based on leaked Geekbench statistics, the CPU achieved a single-core of 3339, and a multicore of 18658, in Geekbench 6.3.0. These scores are around 25% higher than the previous model.

These Geekbench benchmark results were first logged in October 26th, using the Asus ROG X870E Hero motherboard and 32 GB DDR5 RAM.

Benchlife.info, a German website, also reports that the Ryzen 7 X3D will have a clock speed of 4.7 GHz with a boosted frequency of 5.2 GHz. This is in line with Geekbench's results. It's slightly slower than the Ryzen 7 95700X at 5.5GHz, but that's not an issue for gaming.

X3D chips excel at gaming due to their large caches that are stored near the cores. In our Ryzen 7 7800X3D Review last year, we were impressed with its gaming performance, heat dissipation and power efficiency. However, it was not as good for other productivity applications.

Geekbench stats show a boost for the 9800X3D, but they are not indicative of its full performance, especially if it is used primarily for gaming. However, the boost in productivity statistics is great to see.

We will be releasing our full benchmarks and analyses on November 7. Be sure to check back for them before making a purchase. I don't think I'll be too jealous about the new chip. Not because I don't think it will live up to its hype, but rather because it's hard to get these new chips at launch and for the price that I'm willing to pay.

Even if you don't plan to upgrade to the Ryzen 79800X3D, the new chip might make older processors more affordable in time for Black Friday. The new Intel CPUs are out, the X3D update is coming soon, and RTX 50 will likely be announced next year. It's a great time to be a PC gaming enthusiast.
