RoadCraft, the MudRunner sequel, is all about natural catastrophes, heavy machinery, and yes, even more mud

Next year, the off-roading games MudRunner and SnowRunner will get a new sibling, RoadCraft. This time, you'll be driving big vehicles through unfriendly, slippery terrain. This time it's for the reconstruction of areas that have been devastated by natural disasters such as floods and sandstorms. That means it's a good time to play around with heavy machinery.

The reveal trailer, shown at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, gives us a taste for the familiar (like getting stuck again in the mud) along with the use of construction machinery and vehicles, such as bulldozers, cranes, and more. You'll have to clear debris, rebuild infrastructure such as roads and bridges, and reactivate dormant factory.

Saber CEO Matthew Karch says, "We are always looking for new and exciting gameplay experiences to complement our best-selling titles such as SnowRunner or MudRunner." "RoadCraft represents our first venture into heavy equipment simulation. The game is a unique combination of off-road simulations and construction simulations.

Saber also hints at management and logistic systems. In the reveal trailer, we see route planning, possible automation, and the need to collect and manage resources and supplies for the reconstruction effort. I really want to be in the driver's seat of one of those beefy trucks. I have this strange, primal urge of wanting to flatten everything with a steamroller and eat through fallen trees with those logging machinery.

The trailer focuses mainly on an industrial area that has been hit by a flood and is full of trees and mud. It also teases another biome, one that was likely affected by the sandstorms mentioned above, which will come with different terrain challenges and vehicles.

RoadCraft will be released in 2025. Expect to see more as we get closer. Check out our other coverage of Gamescom 2020.
