Rogue Prince of Persia's biggest update yet overhauls the art style and doubles the game size.
Next week, the Rogue Prince of Persia will get an updated early-access build that will overhaul its art and add tons of new content to the roguelike game. The team at Evil Empire decided to change the art direction of the game, which means that the prince's skin will no longer be purple.
"We've changed colour palettes and added more detail. We have also "improved" the overall look. You'll notice that the Prince's color is no longer purple. This was done because the purple tone didn't match the new direction," stated Evil Empire. "We find the art direction to be a better fit for the game's genre and setting/story, as well as the Prince of Persia franchise in general."
The Second Act update looks to be a major capstone for the release of The Rogue Prince of Persia, developed by Evil Empire. They previously created the wildly successful roguelike Dead Cells.
The brief notes also include new enemies, new biomes, new bosses, "tons of narrative gloss for Act 1", and "many new quality of life enhancements like multiple saving slots."
This update will mark the point where we have effectively doubled content since launch. "All the roguelite markers have been implemented - gameplay loops, metaprogressions, builds, difficulty modifiiers and more. And we're not finished here as development will continue into 2025!" said Evil Empire.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is available on Steam and its website.
