Shiren the Wanderer, The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil island is coming to Steam.

Kerry Brunskill, a PC Gamer contributor, wrote earlier this year that it shouldn't be so difficult to play the best PC version of Shiren the Wanderer's Monster of Moonlight Village from 2002. She recounted her long struggle to obtain a PC copy of the game. She also expressed her hope that the newest game in the series, Nintendo Switch exclusive Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island would eventually find its way to PC. It's coming, and you don't need to ask someone in Japan for it.

Shiren the Wanderer The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Isle is now listed on Steam as "coming soon", with all four of the feature updates included. The Serpentcoil island soundtrack and the Plus Pack with 10 new dungeons will be available as DLC.

In The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island, Shiren the Wandered, a talking ferret, and his companion Koppa, a talking rat, are on a quest to find gold, treasure and a mysterious lady in distress. Steam says that "in the Mystery Dungeon the layout of the many floors, tools you acquire within, and presence of both enemies and friends are different every time you go in." The situation changes every time, so you must be prepared and ready to adapt to new challenges. To survive, arm yourself with information about the dungeon’s threats, gather useful resources, and find allies. Strive to reach dungeons' deepest depths and the highest summits!"

Shiren the Wanderer is a series that has literally been around for decades. The first game, Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer was released in 1995 for the Super NES, and later for the Nintendo DS. (Shiren the Wanderer was a spinoff from the older Mystery Dungeon Series--there's even a reason Kerry wrote the original "launched thousands of roguelikes", and that "even the such as Hades owe the series at least a respectable nod." Since then, a number of Shiren sequels were released. However, almost none made it to PC. Shiren the Wanderer, The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is the only exception to this, apart from Serpentcoil island, and it arrived on Steam in 2019.

Spike Chunsoft has said that the release date of Shiren the Wanderer Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island for Steam has not been announced. However, it is expected to be released sometime in winter 2025.
