Slimer will soon be featured on 5 separate Magic: The Gathering cards, if you want to scare your local game store.

Magic: The Gathering's universe contains more disgusting Magic: The Gathering Cards than the ones contained in this upcoming Secret Lair Halloween drop. Slimer's vile, evil appetite fills me up with dread.

These are not new cards. They're "skins" of older ones. They're part of the TCG Secret Lair series. This series has been adapted to include properties such as League of Legends and Lord of the Rings. It also includes Monty Python. Slimer now shares the same hallowed halls with Hatsune Miku and gets five cards dedicated to his pustulent face. Polygon has shared the art in anticipation of the Camp Totally Safe Superdrop.

The names of these things are more than anything else excellent in how they make me feel. Take a look:

  • Slimer, Voracious Aparition (The Mimeoplasm).
  • Slimed (Trickbind)
  • Escape Containment (Incarnation Technique)
  • Slimer's Feast - Windfall
  • Slimer's name has not been changed to Pernicious Deed. It is a verb that fits Slimer so well.

The artwork for these cards was terrible. I mean, it did not achieve what it set out to. Why is Slimer so in that chicken leg he is eating? Do we need to see his tongue unfurled with saliva webs sticking to his fingertips? Do I really need to see the unfortunate butt of his victim, with his head turned back over his shoulder in a coquettish manner? Do I have to watch his upper lip cake-smothered as he commits the most pernicious act, which is... eating cake?

Wizards of the Coast says yes, you do. Slimer can also be found in the Real Ghostbusters superdrop segment. At least, Slimer looks educated and dapper, but this is only due to his mind being swapped with that of Dr. Egon.

Magic: The Gathering has no shortage of gross-out cards. James Bentley, our resident MTG fan, was able to inform me of the existence of cards such as Spike Breeder and Brain Maggot. All of these cards have appropriately disturbing artwork. Brain Maggot makes me feel like I had it easy with Baldur's Gate 3

Slimer will be joined by Chucky, the slasher from 1988 Child's Play and the more recent TV show. If you'd rather indulge your pediophobia - a fear of dolls - then Chucky is also on board. This entire cursed payload is due to arrive on September 30.
