Sony has a heatsink that you can use to warm the back of your head.

If you are anything like me, then you have probably spent a lot of time thinking about cooling your PC. It's important to keep all the components within the right temperature ranges for the best performance. But what about that fleshy meat-thing in front of the PC?

You could buy a Noctua NV FS1 or another decent desk fan for your cooling needs. But what if you want to cool down on the go? Sony has your back, literally. The Sony Reon Pocket 5 is an wearable that not only cools you down, but also provides you with heat in the winter.

Sony claims that this device is "our most powerful cooling systems yet". Previous iterations have had a temperature-changing gadget. However, this model is supposed to be 80% quieter and 1.8 times more efficient.

The idea is to place the thermos module plate on the skin between your upper shoulderblades, with the neckband placed on either side. The Peltier element cools one side of the thermos module plate and warms the other when electricity passes through it. A built-in fan will expel hot air from the top vent when in cooling mode.

The device can detect ambient temperatures and adjust itself accordingly. It has five levels of cooling, four of warmth. It can be synced up with the Reon Pocket Tag in order to detect sunlight, and anticipate your internal temperatures needs.

You can also connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and adjust it manually. There are also two vents to choose from, one close to the neckline to wear casually, and another higher to sit above the collar on a formal shirt. Sony claims that the neck strap can be used for a variety of neck sizes ranging from 34 to 46cm.

I know it seems a little ridiculous. After spending my summer in the heat sifting through exhibition halls, I noticed that many people were smarter than me. If I'm being honest, the really smart ones brought their own fans.

This looks like it could be used to avoid detection, while preventing the back of your shirt looking like Niagara Falls during a particularly heavy rainy day.

Sony claims that the Reon Pocket 5 can withstand splashes and sweat. It is available in the Sony UK store at PS139. I couldn't find it anywhere else. It's ironic that it's easiest to purchase in the UK, given the miserable summer we just had. However, the warming feature may come in handy if you live in UK-like temperatures.
