The game Paleo Pines, a cute dino game, is asking for players' help due to 'a sudden dry up of publishing and investing opportunities'
It has been almost a full year since the release of the cosy dinosaur farm simulator Paleo Pines, and it's been anything but smooth for developer Italic Pig. After a year's worth of hard work, Italic Pig finally asked its players for assistance.
Italic Pig on X: "Many of you have asked what's next for Paleo Pines and we wanted to give our community an update on the issues we are facing." "The sad reality is that the future is uncertain. We've searched high and low to find a production company that shares your passion and love to help bring the next Paleo Pines into life. We were so close to the finish line on several occasions, but circumstances beyond our control caused the future to fall apart.
The team has been working to create extra content for DLCs. This includes more dinosaurs and regions, as well as multiplayer. But without a production partnership, it doesn't matter how much content is planned in the future. Italic Pig says, "We've been able to keep the lights on... up until now." We won't be able keep our team together much longer unless we find a partner that is eager to see the Paleo Pines Universe grow.
Paleo Pines has received some good reviews on Steam with an "82% very positive" score. However, it's not been able make the most out of the cozy farming sim community. According to SteamDB, it has never been able beat its all-time high of 1,716 simultaneous players. This was achieved when the game was released. While there has been a slight bump in traffic, this enthusiasm seems to be waning.
Paleo Pines, while cosy, is not the most exciting farming game I've played in recent memory. The day cycle can be repetitive and the stamina you have is limited. However, there are plenty of dinos who can help around the farm to make up for the lost energy.
Italic Pig insists that the problem is not limited to Paleo Pines, despite a small community rallying behind it. The studio claims that the indie game industry is suddenly facing a lack of investment and publishing opportunities. "Thanks for the unwavering commitment of our small team, and the massive support from all of you. We've been able... to support the first full year of Paleo Pines with a shoestring.
Manor Lords and Lethal Company are among the best indie hits of this year. But just because they've been successful doesn't mean it's true for everyone. Italic Pig came up with some ideas to help keep the lights on.
If you're interested in helping Italic Pig out, the developers recommend checking out the new Paleo Pines Halloween DLC or purchasing the full game. Plushies and other merchandise are also available, with a portion of sales going towards development. If none of this sounds appealing, you can share the X message asking for help.
Italic Pig continued, "We thank you from the bottom our hearts for your support and patience during this roller coaster year since our launch as well as your understanding and patience with our current situation." "Hopefully, with you help, this won’t be the end Paleo Pines' adventure."
