I was blown away when I reviewed the Moza R5 in April. It was a great deal for the price. Moza raised the price, but it was still the best budget-friendly direct drive racing wheel that we could think of. Moza's Black Friday deal for $439 has allowed me to rave about this wheel once again.

Why is it so good, you ask from the other side? It has a direct-drive wheelbase, for starters. This drive mechanism attaches the wheel to the shaft of motor, providing all the feedback. It's usually the choice for professional sim racing and enthusiasts with deep pockets.

Moza has made one of the best ones that I've used at a price that is significantly lower than the rest. It comes with clamps for attaching it to a table (or sim rig if the mounting hole alignment is not perfect) and delivers 5.5Nm of torque to your wrists through the included ES steering wheels.

The effect is really impressive. You can feel every bump and change in road surface through your palms and fingertips. This feedback gives the impression of driving a car much more realistically than other methods. The R5 is incredibly sensitive, but still has enough grunt for you to feel like you are driving a racing car.

The wheel is also superb. The stitching, buttons, and magnetic shifters are all of a high quality.

I haven't touched the pedals yet. Although they look basic, they are extremely robust. I have put many miles on my bike without any damage or telltale flex.

If I'm being honest, this is the only downside to this kit. You should really consider the optional Performance Kit, which adds a load-cell to the brake so that it will resist your foot pressure just like a real car's brake pedal. Moza has not included it in the standard package, even though it's only $29!
