This city builder substitutes traffic jams for human sacrifice because you are the mayor of a massive Cthulhucult

"I am not a herald for destruction, but rather a herald for cosmic rebirth. My purpose is to embrace the inevitable evolutionary process that awaits all of us, not to create chaos. The human race is small and pitiful. "Our existence is a whisper in the cosmic wind, and only by awakening Cthulhu will we be able to transcend our feeble existence."

Imagine that this speech was given by a candidate for mayor in your city. Would you vote them? I guess you would probably not, unless they promised to build reliable public transport, but it's at least a refreshing change from politics as usual.

Worshippers of Cthulhu, a city-builder with a twist. The twist is a mass of 100-foot tentacles that are writhing in a pit right in the middle of the town. You are not only the mayor and city planner but also the leader of a group trying to awaken the Old One. He needs a well-organized, maintained city in order to appear.

The Steam page for the city builder states that "Only the strongest cults can achieve the extraordinary feat to awaken the Old One and Cthulhu only tolerates the strong." "Establish cities on multiple islands and ensure they are not only able to sustain your followers, but also flourish, intimately linked to the awakened god. Manage your workforce, oversee production chains and navigate dangerous ruins that occupy valuable land.

You'll still be dealing with the usual city building stuff, except that instead of tackling traffic jams, you'll be dealing with scaly monsters from the depths. The big book on your desktop isn't a collection of budget sheets and zoning regulations. It's the Necronomicon. The tech tree includes corn plantations, sheet farms and summoning ritual sites.

Here's a gameplay trailer that was revealed at the Future Games Show, which took place this week during Gamescom.

If you like the sound of all this, Tea You can play a demo of Worshippers of Cthulhu for free on Steam. Its full release date is October 21. Crazy Goat Games, the developer of this unusual city builder, has released Republic of Pirates. This game is filled with swashbucklers rather than shoggoths.
