This Lenovo AI laptop concept follows you around with its ever-watching screen.

Do you put Blu Tack on your webcam for fear that someone will gain access to it? Lenovo's AI PC concept isn't right for you if its central gimmick involves reading your face at every moment.

Tom's Hardware reported that the Auto Twist AI PC was a new laptop concept shown at IFA Berlin this week. It has a "Dual Degree of Freedom", hinge that allows it to rotate the screen, while the webcam records your face and tells the computer where to go. It can move up and down or left and right in order to see your face as you walk towards the screen or away from it. However, there are some glitches.

The screen will wobble a lot when you re-adjust it, and will flick between two people standing in front of the screen. The laptop can be controlled by a microphone built into the laptop. It can convert it to tablet mode, or close the lid. The lid was caught on the keys when trying to switch from laptop to tablet mode. It required a restart.

I can see how this could be useful to some users, despite my cynicism. If you are constantly changing from a seated desk to a standing one or you can't sit comfortably in your chair for long periods of time, the moving screen will allow you to be in the frame when you are in meetings and also give you a better view angle while casually streaming videos.

If you like to pace during meetings or want to give a whiteboard presentation, you can set up your computer anywhere and let it do the framing.

For someone like me, however, I doubt I would ever use this mode and would probably just turn it off. The webcam can also be used for "wellness enhancements", such as correcting your posture with regular reminders. This concept is intriguing, but I'm not sure if users would be happy to have their laptop criticize them .

This device is a concept and may never be mass produced. If it is, it will likely be in a more stable form. This concept is one of my favorite uses of AI in PCs. As Microsoft Copilot machines are introduced to the world and signal a widespread adoption of AI, I find this concept to be one of the most bizarre.
